Question:
I have recently had a bad experience with a Traveling
Nurse Company that I’m pretty sure is misrepresentation.
I was not told of certain requirements and financial obligations
until after I said I would like the assignment. No written
contracts were signed and I thought I asked all the questions
prior to. The only way I found out was in the Employment
Package sent to me after talking to the Placement Specialist.
Has anyone had problems with this or know of anyone that
has? Nurses Beware!! I don’t believe all companies are
like this and I will be happy to disclose the details
if anyone needs them.
Answer:
A very dear friend of mine has done some travel nursing
with both good and bad experiences. He would always try
to negotiate private lodging arrangements but once when
he was promised an apt. by himself he ended up with the
room mate from hell in West Palm Beach.
In CA, he signed on with a company that allowed him by
his contract to work 12
hour shifts so he would have days off to enjoy his new
location. Other CA nurses were somewhat resentful because
of union laws and he wasn't union They were all stuck
working five days a week. All in all, he had a really
great year or two in FL, WA state, CA doing the travel
thing. It wasn't very lucrative in terms of money but
he loves to travel and this met his needs at the time.
