Phone # for Florida Board of Registered Nursing?
|
Question:
Is there someone out there with the Florida BRN number? I could also use some advice from nurses graduating from the UCNY Regents College External Nursing Degree Program that have sought licensure (by reciprocity) from Florida. I have been hearing that this State has enacted laws that prevent RCENDP grads from practicing.
Answer:
I am a regents graduate and licensed in FL. They first said I couldn’t get licensed but when looking at the rules it turns out that if you were an LPN before going to Regents they will license you. Their objection is for people who have no nursing experience before doing Regents. Sorry, I don’t seem to have the number but Call Information or look on the net.
I know one of the nursing web sites (I think) has all the addresses for State Boards. FL state board is in Jacksonville. Unless you have already completed a FULL LPN program in it’s entirety and held a valid license the Florida Board will not recognize the Regents program. They say it is because of the lack of actual clinical hours that is offered in a regular program. Although you have been tested stringently by Regents, you have not had the exposure unless you have completed a state
accredited program.
