North Carolina nursing jobs

Question:
I will be graduating this May (God willing) and am planning on continuing in Grad School for Nursing Anesthesia. I'm curious as to what the job opportunities are looking like in North Carolina, more specifically, the Durham area. I would be greatly appreciative of any info any of you nurses living in the Durham area can offer me. I am ready to leave this dreadful climate :) I need some sun for crying out loud. Heck, half of us are probably suffering from severe vitamin E deficiency.

Answer:
I'm a senior BSN student at the University of Akron. Our Anesthesia program requires that you have at least 1 year experience in adult ICU. You then interview and apply for the program. If accepted, the program is 27 months year round study, including a 12 month residency I believe.
I'm not in Durham, but I am just 30 minutes away in Raleigh. The two big hospitals in Durham are Durham Regional Hospital and Duke University Medical Center. Just yesterday, an agreement was announced stating that Duke intends to take over Durham Regional. (Well hey; it was either Duke or Tenet Duke sounds like the better choice.) How this will affect jobs for CRNAs, I couldn't tell you.

However, I *can* tell you that there is a school in Raleigh for nurse anesthesia.
Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia
2500 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 200-H
Raleigh, NC 27607
(919) 787-8870

It's affiliated with UNC-Greensboro and offers a Master's degree.

The other two nurse anesthesia programs in North Carolina are:
Charlotte-Carolinas HealthCare System
Nurse Anesthesia Program
UNC-Charlotte
P.O. Box 32861
Charlotte, NC 28232-2861
George P. Haag, CRNA, PhD
Brent Holway, MD
(704) 355-2375
Fax: (704) 355-7263

Winston-Salem-Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro
Medical Center Boulevard, 27157-1118
Sandra M. Ouellette, CRNA, MEd, FAAN
Francis M. James III, MD
(910) 716-1411
Fax: (910) 716-1412

When I had my surgeries at Raleigh Community Hospital in November and
January for my broken leg, the anesthesia was done by CRNAs. The lady who was with me in January was a real riot - I had a ball talking with her. Both of these ladies were employed by:
Critical Health Systems, Inc.
6131 Falls of the Neuse Road
Raleigh, NC 27615
(919) 873-9533

The hospitals in Raleigh are Wake Medical Center, Rex Hospital, and
Raleigh Community Hospital.
