would you recommend nursing as a career?

Question:
I currently work as an engineer with base pay about £21k but I'm bored rigid with it. I was thinking of getting into nursing or working my way up the paramedic chain but maybe I’m too old at 39?,,any thoughts or should I stay where I am?
Answer:
Only if you are cut out for it. Your age is not an issue for nursing provided you are healthy, although finance can be an issue - would the bursary pay your mortgage/rent? Re paramedic option: nursing has more scope career and salary wise - masses of opportunities in clinical, educational and management roles. Depends what you are cut out for.
I started nursing fairly late in life, and haven't regretted one single day.
Sure, there's been some down times, but if you can survive the 3 years of learning, poor income and mopping up shit, piss & blood while some moronic public schoolboy in a white coat screams at you in an attempt to cover up his incompetence, then the world is your oyster. The opportunities are endless, and more importantly, you're never likely to be unemployed.
Give it a shot -I was a wasted drifter, and now hold a very senior position and have a CV that would cause a paper mill meltdown.
