Information on contract and travel nursing.

Question:
My fiancée needs some questions answered on contract or travel nursing jobs.
We want to winter in Florida.
Can we pick your brain?
Some questions we have are: Pay for RN with Bachelors Degree, How much for housing, other compensation if any. How long are the contracts?
Answer:
I've been traveling the past year and have enjoyed it. There is no difference in pay for BSN nurses as you are working for a set hourly rate and for a minimum amount of total contract hours. Housing has been free and includes electric and water. You will have to furnish telephone and cable. You do have the choice of doing your own housing and most companies will supplement your rent.
As to length of contracts. My experience has been that most run for
13 weeks with the option to extend at the end. I'm doing a six month contract now at a hospital in Colorado that I spent the summer at and then came back to.
As to traveling in general. I've had very good experiences with Cross Country and not so good with TravCorps. Housing was the main difference. In regards to Florida and traveling nursing. I used to work at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa and travelers were welcome but when it came time to make the choice of assignments they usually got stuck. Also watch in the contract about floating and the shifts.
You can negotiate your shifts.
